Coroner: Surge in overdose deaths in Franklin County over 24-hours period

The Franklin County Coroner’s Office says they have seen a surge in overdose deaths within a 24-hour period.The office reports there have been five apparent overdose deaths between 5:21 p.m. Thursday and 9:59 a.m. Friday.The coroner urges Franklin County residents with family or friends that might be at risk for an overdose, please take the necessary steps to have Naloxone available for them.The general public can obtain naloxone at any pharmacy without a prescription at a cost or with health insurance.Franklin County Public Health along with Project DAWN (Deaths Avoided with Naloxone) will also provide free naloxone with brief training.To locate these sites please visit: http://www.odh.ohio.gov/projectdawn.Other distributors of naloxone can be...
