Nearly 190,000 Ohioans filed unemployment claims during the week that ended March 21 – a week that saw Gov. Mike DeWine close bars and restaurants to try and slow the spread of coronavirus.
According to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, 187,780 Ohioans filed for unemployment from March 15-21, up from 7,042 the previous week.
The state's numbers are in line with the rest of the country, as similar restrictions to slow the virus have been enacted in most states.
