Bill Burke, who lives in the small town of Hockingport in Athens County, stopped by a friend's house to borrow a megaphone. Felicia Mettler said Burke told her he planned to counter protest a "Unite The Right" rally of white nationalists in Charlottesville, Virginia. "He didn't go to start a fight. He went to make the world a better place and to use his voice," said Mettler. One person was killed and 19 injured when a car slammed into the crowd of counter protestors. Mettler said Burke suffered a head injury, and said good Samaritans used Burke's cell phone to contact his wife in Ohio.
