But Wednesday Columbus took steps to control those electric scooters that seem to be taking over downtown.The main rule is that scooters must be ridden on the road and not the sidewalk. Other rules include riders must be 16, anyone under 18 must wear a helmet, only one person on a scooter, only two scooters side by side, both hands on the handlebars, no faster than 20 miles an hour and only ride on streets where the speed limit is 35 or under.Legislation will also be considered shortly by the city council and, once in place, the rules are enforceable.“We want to remain on the forefront of mobility options, that’s what smart Columbus and being America's first smart city is all about,” ...
